Commercial Vehicle Insurance copy: Information

In this grave situation, most of the people are thinking whether travel insurance would cover them financially in case they cancel their overseas travel or get infected with the virus . If they get quarantined, will their travel insurance provide coverage for the charges?
The answer is YES also and NO too. The international travel insurance plan do provide coverage for the coronavirus disease but under specific situations only such as:

Emergency Medical Treatment

The insurer in India will provide coverage for any emergency medical expenses that are incurred by the insured on the treatment for COVID-19 in a hassle-free manner. People who had purchased their individual, family or senior citizen travel insurance policy just before the travel restrictions were placed will be provided coverage for the emergency medical expenses incurred. This is available for both international and domestic travel. However the claims will be made as per the terms and conditions of policy at the time of its purchase.

Overseas Trip Delays/ Cancellations

The insurance provider will provide coverage for any trip delay or cancellation claim due to the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) in case the policy was purchased before the travel ban.

Here also as in the medical expenses cover, the settlement of the claim amount for this cover will be as per the terms and conditions of the policy at the time of buying.

However, it is important to note that the trip delay/ cancellation cover is only for existing policies and not on new policy purchases. Therefore, the people who are planning to buy the travel insurance for their overseas trip to a COVID-19 country, despite government advisory, will not be covered by insurance provider. In fact , any claims related to coronavirus will be most likely excluded from the policy in such situations.

Domestic Trip Delays & Baggage Loss

A domestic travel insurance policy will provide coverage for any trip delays/ baggage loss for travelling within India due to the outbreak of coronavirus disease. However, the terms and conditions of the policy will remain the same as it was at the start of its purchase.
